Where to find a therapist?

Finding a therapist does not feel like a simple task and can be quite complex if you starting diving down into different styles of workings ands theoretical leanings.

I am writing this blog as I have had and will continue to have people reaching out to me, whom I know, so cannot enter therapy with myself but I would like to help you by pointing you in the right direction.

"Directories are the best bet."

Directories are the best bet. This is because they require a certain level of training to be allowed to advertise on them. Therefore you can expect a reasonable amount of competence and training. Also to advertise on them you have to be a part of a larger body such as mine which is the BACP and to be apart of this we must meet their ethical guidelines. This gives you reassurance as to what you can expect a counsellor to be.

The directories I would recommend are here (But there are more):

On these directories you can use filters to narrow down to find the therapist you wish to work with. They will have bios so you can get a feel for who they are, how they work and if they offer what you are looking for. I also highly recommend reaching out and asking questions you may have as most counsellors offer a free phone call to give you this opportunity.

If you have any more questions about this topic do feel free to reach out to me.
