What therapy with me looks like

Updated: Feb 3

Hello, my name is Jordan and I am a Counsellor.

I wanted to write an overview to explore what therapy with me looks like.

Structure

My therapy structure is to do a 50-minute session weekly. This gives you frequent amount of time to explore issues you want to bring. By doing it weekly it enables us to keep focus on you and gives you consistent support. Later in therapy, extending the frequency to fortnightly and monthly can help you put your learnings into practice but still have a check in to explore how things are going.

Way of working

I work collaboratively with you so we both decide what issues to focus on. By doing this you will feel empowered and guided rather than dictated. I believe this is important as a key part of therapy is to enable you to grow and become your fullest self. By working this way, you can decide how much exploring feels enough and what is a priority to you. I will offer guidance towards areas they may be hidden or could be important, but it is together that we will decide how to move forward.

What I offer

Many clients come to me because they want to be seen and heard. This comes directly from feedback I get from clients past and current. I will listen to you, believe in your ability to grow and encourage you to improve your mental wellbeing. I believe much of the great work counselling does is through our therapeutic relationship. In addition to this I will provide education into issues you are experiencing and explore tools to manage these. This will aid you towards change and/or acceptance.

Outcome

Through therapy I believe your mental resilience improves and this will improve your relationships and support you to find meaning in life. Life is often greatly challenging, and I believe finding meaning in this aids us ability to not only manage it but make the most of it.

Where to begin

Start by filling out the enquiry form. After that we will book a 15-minute initial call to discuss what you would like from therapy and to see if we will be a good fit. After this we will book your first 50-minute Counselling session, either in-person or online (If looking to do online sessions, please see how to make the most of my online counselling sessions article).

I hope this article has been helpful to you, and if you have any questions or wish to begin therapy with me then please reach out. I look forward to hearing from you.
